Giclée (zhee-klay) . . .
. . . is derived from the French verb “gicler” meaning “to squirt”. Giclée printing is a relatively new technology for fine art and photographic reproduction using specialized 8– and 12–color printing equipment.
We prefer to scan the original image with a high resolution scanner that has been calibrated to the printer and media. In rare instances, a high quality photograph will be used if the original image is no longer available. However, the resulting print may be considered a “third generation” reproduction and not a true giclée.
Lobo Designs issues a Certificate of Authenticity detailing the methods and materials used in the reproduction process.
Limited edition prints are precisely tracked to maintain the integrity of the artists’ prints and the investment of fine art collectors.
